Which scientist is credited with creating the periodic table of elements?

Answer
Dmitri Mendeleev

Mendeleev published his table in 1869. Its real brilliance was the gaps: he left spaces for elements not yet discovered and predicted their properties. When gallium and germanium were later found and matched his predictions, the table's authority was settled.
